Geothermal energy is heat within the earth. Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source because heat is continuously produced inside the earth.
Scientists have discovered that the temperature of the earth's inner core is about 10,800 degrees Fahrenheit (F), which is as hot as the surface of the sun. Temperatures in the mantle range from about 392F at the upper boundary with the earth's crust to approximately 7,230F at the mantle-core boundary. According to Arpa-E, just 0.1% of Earths heat content can meet the world's energy needs for 2 million years.
US has 3.8GW installed Geothermal Capacity. 60 Geothermal Plants in US or About 0.4% of total electic production. Indonesia, Kenya are also major produces of geothermal
