Japan Electricity Consumption by Fuel type 2021
Total Japan Electricity consumption was 0.95 Billion KWH in 2021, has been declining at the rate of 1.3% per year
By 2021, renewables account for 21% share and non-fossil (low carbon) share is 27%. Coal remains the dominant fuel source.
Japan used to have almost 35% non-fossil (low carbon) share in 2010 before it decided to phase out Nuclear energy fuel source due to Fukushima nuclear disaster.
